San Jose, CA is the birthplace and childhood home of Dr. Buchholz, who has practiced neurology in Bend since 1986. Early abilities led ultimately to a B.S. degree in mathematics from U.C. Davis in 1970. After a year or so of working for General Electric and studying advanced mathematics at Santa Clara University, a decision was made to seek an M.D. degree to be able to work with people as well as pursue science. Premed courses at U.C. Santa Barbara preceded medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. There, after initially considering cardiology, a love of neurology developed. Neurology training was completed at U.C. Irvine in 1981. After stints in Sonora and Fresno, CA, the move to Bend was made to raise a family and develop a full neurology practice.
